About Pokhara

About

Stroll through the wild side of the city by the Fewa Lake while gazing at the panoramic bliss of the Annapurna Massif. Be it the boats rowing in the lakes or the snow-capped mountain peaks, everything seems to be art here, painting a scenery straight out of a dream.

Why we love Pokhara

Pokhara is the base for some of the most adventurous treks of the world. Trekkers from across the globe who have come for the Annapurna Circuit Treks find an enchanting respite in this town, with its serene views and breezy vibes.

The Shanti Stupa of Pokhara gives a beautiful view of Pokhara city. Interestingly, the odd and only ways to reach it are by crossing the river and hiking or going for a day-long bicycle journey/trek, or taking a long drive amidst winding roads.

The Pokhara main street is a celebration of good food, festivities, and togetherness. Its cafes and coffee shops treat your tongues, whereas little shops make shopping a fulfilling experience. The life of the city, this street is where you’ll end up each night, and gladly so.

Fun Facts

If you wish to watch the most mesmerising sunset over the Annapurna range, head to this place called Kahu Dhana, a viewpoint on the outskirts of the city. For sunrise, hike, or drive to Methlang village.

Fish curry is cheaper than chicken curry here! Due to the abundance of water bodies, Pokhara devours fish as a staple. Try the traditional grilled fish at a local stall by the Begnas Lake, as you take in the serenity of this utterly quiet and rarely visited lake

Machhapuchhre or Mt Fishtail is a part of the Annapurna Range and is considered a holy mountain by the Nepalese. No one has been able to reach its top and if you ask the locals, you should not try, for it's a place of worship, not of adventure. Although it is not the tallest mountain of the range, it appears to be taller than most due to its pointed peak and positioning. When looked from a certain angle, the peak really does look like a fishtail, not from Pokhara though.
