When you take the Atal Tunnel from Manali and reach the other end, the change in landscape is apparent. Verdant mountains with thick deodars are now replaced by rugged mountains with sparse greenery, the river has changed its colour, and the weather is drastically different too. As you drive deeper into the valley, you start seeing majestic snow-clad mountains not too far from where you are, whereas tiny settlements by the riverbank with elegant tin and stone houses and lush green fields colour the rest of the painting pretty.
