About Rishikesh

About Rishikesh

Tranquil ghats running alongside the bluish-green waters of the Ganga, narrow gullies filled with shops selling trinkets, and the blissful Ganga Aarti charm any traveller that steps foot in Rishikesh. The Yoga capital of the world, it is THE place for seekers of spiritualism and free-living to wind up at.

Why we love Rishikesh

For a traveller seeking amusement, Rishikesh has umpteen shack-like cafes, thrilling river rafting and even bungee jumping in store.

The cafes of Rishikesh are set in a beautiful milieu, making for perfect dinner-date places. You can lunch and dine overlooking the gorgeous waters of Ganga, as you order a spread of middle-eastern, English, and Italian cuisines.

The ghats have an indelible charm during the day and through the night. Sitting by the river Ganga at midnight and hearing her water splash on the rocks is a truly fixating experience. If you like to meditate, there is no place like the ghats or one of the rocky shores.

Fun Facts

John Lennon, the lead singer of the iconic Rock Band, The Beatles, had his ashes spread in the Ganga by Rishikesh upon his demise. There’s also a Beatles Ashram in Rishikesh in his memory, which attracts fans and travellers every day.

The only two ways to cross between either side of Ganga that form the main city are the two bridges, Ram Jhula and Laxman Jhula. Each night, they light up in shimmering gold, making for a scintillating night scenery.

The International Yoga Festival is a one-week affair in Rishikesh, which draws Yoga enthusiasts from all over the world. Held during the first week of September, the fest teaches Yoga practices along with principles of simple living, Pranayam, and more.
