Founded by and named after a British Viceroy in India, Dalhousie sits atop Chamba Valley, serving as its gateway. The city earned the title of a ‘hill station’ decades ago when tourists and travellers flocked to the place to enjoy the weather, the beauty, and the distant views of the snow clad mountains. However, that’s not all Dalhousie has to offer. One has more than a slight chance to catch a glimpse of a bear or two in Kalatop Wildlife sSanctuary or enjoy the gushing Satdhara Falls. But the cherry on the cake is definitely Khajjiar, a delicious meadow situated just outside Dalhousie, and is also fondly called ‘Switzerland of India’. About 3 Km from the main Gandhi Chowk of Dalhousie, on Kholpukhar road, lies Zostel. It is a quaint hill hostel, away from the mainstream civilisation. Sip your coffee at the in-house cafe with snowy mountains visible in the distance.
