Day one: Shimla to Chitkul via Kufri & Sangla
  • At 7 AM, gather up at the Tutikandi bus stand of Shimla. By 7.30, we leave for Spiti Valley, with breaks for snacks, lunch, and sightseeing at Kufri, the Tranda Temple, and Sangla. Reach Chitkul by sundown and check-in at Zostel Chitkul, followed by a hearty dinner. Stay the night amidst a thoroughly dreamy Himalayan landscape brushed by the winter, marking quite a fantastic start to the trip.
  • Chitkul at a glance: The last motorable hamlet on the Indo-Tibetan border, Chitkul is perched in a dreamlike setting of perennial snow. Charming wooden houses & the Baspa river surrounded by the Kinnauri Himalayas rule its landscape, bringing incredible valley views your way.
Day two: Exploring Chitkul and Rakchham
  • Have breakfast at the open-roof cafe of Zostel Chitkul, overlooking the snow-clad Himalayas. At 9 AM, walk to the Baspa river for a local adventure and picturesque milieus. By 11 AM, we leave for Kamru Fort in Sangla. Explore the quaint trails of Sangla followed by lunch in Rakchham at 2 PM. Explore the trails around this small town slightly North of Chitkul and very much at the heart of the Sangla Valley and then gather back at Zostel Chitkul for dinner at 8 PM. Sleep under the stars, with the sounds of a flowing river and chirping night birds.
  • Rakchham at a glance: A quaint town in Sangla Valley, Rakchham is known for its mix of a green landscape with mighty Himalayan mountains. It is set by the river Baspa and offers bucolic village scenes and a glimpse into the local life of the valley.
Day three: Chitkul to Tabo via Spillo
  • Begin your day with a warm breakfast overlooking the snow-clad Himalayas. After exploring the nearby hotspots, we leave for Tabo, stopping on the way for lunch at Spillo. At around 6 PM, check-in at Zostel Home Tabo, a quaint Himachali homestay overlooking the rugged Spitian mountains. End your day with dinner, games, and chitter-chatter with your newfound travel gang.
  • Tabo at a glance: Home to the world’s second-oldest monastery, ancient caves, and frozen lakes and rivers, Tabo is old, charming, and unparalleled in scenic beauty.
Day four: Tabo to Kaza via Dhankar
  • After a filling breakfast, visit the Tabo Monastery and leave for Dhankar. Explore the stunningly located Dhankar Gompa and then stop once more for lunch before you reach Kaza. Check-in at Zostel Spiti by 3 PM, which will spare you plenty of time to visit the colourful market & explore the town before heading back to the homestay for a hearty dinner.
  • Kaza at a glance: The heart of the surreal Spiti Valley, Kaza is rough snow-clad mountains, sparkling blue streams, and colourful little settlements. Perched at an elevation of 3800 m, it is the gateway to the prolific wonders of the valley.
Day five: Kaza to Hikkim, Komic, Langza, Key Monastery, & Chicham Bridge
  • Begin your day with a local spread of homemade breakfast in the middle of a surreal Himalayan backdrop at Zostel Spiti. Today, you’ll step out to explore three enthralling villages of the Spiti Circuit, Hikkim, Komic, and Langza, with a stop for lunch in Hikkim. Then, you will continue to the two iconic landmarks of Spiti Valley- Key Monastery & Chicham Bridge. Come back after an exciting day out just in time for a pleasant dinner. Make sure to gaze at the starry skies before you fall asleep, a must-do when in the valley of prolific natural wonders.
  • Your day at a glance: Hikkim is known for its iconic post office, the highest in the world, while Komic is home to the ancient Tangyud Monastery, covered in historical tales of monks. Langza, on the other hand, harbours the 1000-year old statue of Lord Buddha that stuns travellers. Throughout the stretch, the views are incredible, with hairpin bends, 1000 ft road drops, and terrific views of prominent Himalayan peaks.
Day six: Kaza to Kalpa via Nako
  • After breakfast at Zostel Spiti, we leave from Kaza to Kalpa. On the way, we cover Nako, a tiny settlement with a Gompa, an emerald-coloured sacred lake, and mandatory valley views. Post lunch, we continue our ride to Kalpa, where we reach and check-in by 7 PM. Unwind and dine with a view of the fort and then indulge in a pleasant storytelling session before you call it a night.
  • Kalpa at a glance: A bucolic hamlet by the Sutlej river, Kalpa treats you with an encompassing view of the Kinnaur Kailash peaks. It is known for its temples, fort, snow-clad views, and mesmerising sunsets.
Day seven: Kalpa to Shimla via Rampur
  • The adventure approaches a sweet end today. After the final group breakfast, leave from Kalpa to Shimla, with a break in Rampur for lunch. Bid goodbye to the extraordinary landscape as it gradually changes from a parched brown to a lively green. Part ways at Shimla, promising to yourself more epic journeys in the future.

  • Inclusions: 5% GST, 7 Breakfasts & 6 veg dinner, everyday commute by a tempo traveller; accommodation for six nights with trusted partners; all inner line permits for the trip; driver night charges, toll tax, parking charges; an oxygen cylinder in case of emergency; travel insurance for all participants.


  • Exclusions: Any kind of food items or beverages that are not included in the package like alcoholic drinks, mineral water, refreshments/lunches on the highway; any personal expenses; any cost arising due to natural calamities; anything not mentioned in the inclusions.
  • Note: Due to extreme weather conditions, travellers may have to adjust to a limited hot water supply. The team shall always try their best to make the journey smooth and comfortable for all participants, however, we urge you to accommodate minor inconveniences that are difficult to manage, given the altitude and remoteness of the locations.
  • Cancellations: The booking amount is 100% refundable if a cancellation is made one week before the trip commencement date. For cancellations made within 7 days of the trip commencement, no refund will be applicable.

  • Travellers are requested to respect Nature, the culture of the region, and the sentimental values of the locals. They must refrain from acts of littering, intoxication in public areas, and disrespecting people, animals, or any places of worship at all times.
  • Things to carry: The temperature may vary from 30℃ to -15℃. Have enough layers to keep warm, including a fleece, sweatshirt, winter coat, thermals, and woollens. Other things that may come in handy include sturdy hiking boots, torchlight, umbrella, sunscreen, personal meds, and toiletries.
  • Accommodation: Stay with us at Zostel and with trusted partners: Zostel Chiktul, Zostel Homes Tabo, Zostel Spiti - Kaza and a trusted accommodation partner in Kalpa. You shall be provided with a bed in a dorm room/hall or with private rooms on a sharing basis, depending upon the limited availability at destinations.
  • This trip begins in Shimla and ends there. Travellers need to arrange their travels to and from Shimla on their own.
