From the gateways to Zanskar and Spiti valleys– Baralcha La and Chandrataal, to the pristine lakes of Deepak Taal and Suraj Taal, remote villages in Lahaul and the incredible Atal Tunnel, you will cover the most iconic travel spots of Lahaul. We are taking only 12 travellers per batch.

Day 1- 26 Sept, Mon: Explore Manali
  • At 10 am, check in at Zostel Manali, unpack, and rest for a while. 
  • At 1 pm, we leave to explore Manali, with breaks for snacks, lunch, and local sightseeing at Vashist, Hadimba temple, and Mall Road. Return to Zostel Manali by sundown and relish a wholesome dinner at the in-house garden cafe. Night stay at Zostel Manali. 
  • Manali at a glance: With enthralling mountain views and a bundle of adventure experiences for travellers, Manali is the ultimate mountain destination. Posh cafes, lush fruit orchards, and the meandering Beas rule Manali’s landscape, offering spectacular valley views to travellers.
Day 2- 27 Sept, Tue: Manali to Rashil via Sissu and Tandi
  • Start your day early with a hearty breakfast at Zostel Manali.
  • At 10 pm, we begin our journey towards Triloknath temple in Lahaul via Sissu and Tandi, stopping on the way at Atal Tunnel to click pictures. After exploring Triloknath temple and other nearby hotspots, we leave for Rashil with a small break for lunch at Udaipur (Lahaul). At around 5 pm, check in at Zostel Home Rashil, our traditional homestay run by a loving Lahauli family. End your day with a warm farm-to-table dinner, games, and fun conversations with your newfound friends. 
  • Rashil at a glance: A dreamy landscape invites you into Rashil, a tiny but scenic village in the Pattan Valley of Lahaul. Gurgling waterfalls, lush farm fields, fruit orchards, and a slow-paced lifestyle are the highlights of this Lahauli village
Day 3- 28 Sept, Wed: Rashil to Jispa via Baralacha La
  • Today will be a busy but adventurous day, as we will take a thrilling road trip to Jispa. Explore Baralcha La, Keylong, and Deepak and Suraj Taal with a lunch break at Zingzingbar. Reach Jispa at around 8 pm and check in at our partner accommodation. End your day with a filling dinner, bonfire, and a comfy overnight stay. 
  • Your day at a glance: Baralcha La, set at an altitude of 15,900 feet, is one of the highest mountain passes in Himachal Pradesh, while Keylong is known for its tranquillity and dreamy landscapes. Deepak and Suraj Taal, Lahaul’s stunning high-altitude Himalayan lakes, are known for their serenity.
Day 4- 29 Sept, Thurs: Jispa to Chandrataal via Sissu
  • Enjoy yet another day exploring remote Lahaul. Today you will tick the serene lake of Chandrataal off your bucket list while making a halt for lunch at Sissu. After unwinding and gazing at the mindboggling lake and mountain views to your heart’s content, check in at our partner accommodation. Finally, end your night with a wholesome dinner, chitter-chatter by the bonfire, and stargazing. 
  • Chandrataal at a glance: Tucked away at an altitude of 14,100 feet, Chandrataal marks the onset of Spiti valley. The stunning lake is situated on the Samudra Tapu and is the source of the Chandra River. Fun fact: Chandrataal got this name because of its crescent moon shape.
Day 5- 30 Sept, Fri: Chandrataal to Sissu
  • Start your day with a warm breakfast and take a soothing walk around Chandrataal. Around 11 am, leave for Manali while making a stop for lunch at Chacha Chachi Dhaba in Batal. Check in at Zostel Manali by 5 PM and indulge in a trip-ending celebratory bonfire, movie night, and dinner. You’ll be staying in Zostel Manali and parting ways by 10 AM next morning with lots of see you soons on the next adventure.
What to Carry:
  • Packing light is always a good idea! However, you’re venturing into one of the coldest regions of India, so we recommend that you prepare for this trip well in advance and pack as accurately as possible. A few essentials we always suggest you carry are: 
  •  A good pair of hiking shoes. 
  •  Caps/hats and a pair of sunglasses, towel, water bottle, and thermos flask. 
  •  A rain cover and a raincoat/poncho, adequate woollens, and a windcheater jacket. 
  •  Thermal wear that supports 0 to -2 degree temperatures- 2 pairs of socks and gloves, fleeces, thermal pants, and t-shirts. 
  •  Finally, a torchlight, an umbrella, sunscreen or moisturizer, personal meds, and toiletries.


  • A total of 9 meals (4 breakfasts and 5 dinners); everyday commute by a 12-seater tempo traveller; accommodation for 5 nights at Zostel Manali, Zostel Homes Rashil and with other trusted partners; all inner line permits for the trip; driver night charges, toll tax, parking charges; and in case of emergency; travel insurance for all participants. *Kindly note, considering the remoteness of the place, the supply of breakfast and dinner might have limited varieties.


  • Exclusions: Transport to Manali and from Manali; any kind of food items or beverages that are not included in the package like alcoholic drinks, mineral water, refreshments/lunches on the highway; any personal expenses; any cost arising due to natural calamities; anything not mentioned in the inclusions.
  • Important accommodation disclaimer: Due to extreme conditions in remote areas, travellers may have to adjust to a limited hot water supply, water in buckets, Indian toilets, and dry toilets. The team shall always try their best to make the journey smooth and comfortable for all participants. However, we urge you to accommodate minor inconveniences that are difficult to manage or impossible to change, given the altitude, temperatures, and remoteness of the locations. ● Accommodation will be on sharing basis as follows - 1. Dorm rooms at Zostel Manali 2. Double/Triple sharing basis in Private rooms or Dorm beds depending on availability at Zostel Homes Rashil. 3. Double sharing basis at Partnered Homestay in Jispa. 4. Quad basis in camps at Chandrataal 5. Dorm rooms at Zostel Manali ● Room upgrade is subject to availability and is only possible post booking confirmation.   • Cancellations: The booking amount is 100% refundable if a cancellation is made 14 days prior to the commencement date. For cancellations made within 14 days prior to the trip commencement date, no refund will be applicable.
  • Who should join this trip - ●We strongly recommend individuals of age 18-35 yrs. ●Heart patients are not allowed to participate in this expedition. ●The trip involves travelling in a 12-seater traveller for up to 6-8 hours. People with back problems or looking to travel by their own vehicle are not advised to book.
  • Booking is subject to weather conditions. In case of cancellation due to bad weather, the entire amount shall be refunded, and Zostel won't be responsible for trip cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances. Furthermore, the itinerary is planned according to the weather forecasted much in advance of the commencement date and hence may involve last-minute changes in case of a natural calamity which will be informed on the WhatsApp group.   • Travelers are requested to respect Nature, the culture of the region, and the sentimental values of the locals. They must refrain from acts of littering, intoxication in public areas, and disrespecting people, animals, or any places of worship at all times.
  • This trip begins and ends in Manali. Travellers need to arrange their travels to and from Manali on their own.
  • 100% pre-payment is required for the confirmation of the booking.
