Shivapuri trek is an outstanding choice for those who are looking for a short hike within limited time. Situated at an altitude of 2563 meters north of Kathmandu, Shivapuri is second highest hill around Kathmandu valley. Further, Baghdwar, source of holy river Bagmati is also located near Shivapuri. The hike goes up through the Rhododendron forest you can enjoy a panoramic view of the langthang region from the top of the peak. The hike returns the same way from the top and we drive back from Nagi Gumba back to Zostel.

What You Will Do
  • Morning : We drive for about 45 minutes to Budhanilkantha Temple which is 8 kms from Kathmandu.
  • From Budhanilkantha we walk through Shivapuri conservation area, It is a steep uphill hike through narrow and dusty trail for about half an hour to Nagi Gumpa and two hours gradual uphill trail to shivapuri.
  • After lunch and strolling around for sometimes, we take a short cut downhill trail to Budhanilkantha for about and half hours and drive back to Kathmandu.

  • Wear lose trouser or track pants. Keep a small towel with yourself in case you get wet to dry yourself up.
  • We conduct this activity on a daily basis but the booking is subjected to weather conditions on the day of the hike.
  • Zostel won't be responsible for the cancellation of treks due to unforeseen circumstances. The entire amount would be refunded for the same in such cases.
  • Minimum 2 persons are required to conduct this activity, otherwise any deposit will be refunded.
