Shivapuri trek is an outstanding choice for those who are looking for a short hike within limited time. Situated at an altitude of 2563 meters north of Kathmandu, Shivapuri is second highest hill around Kathmandu valley. Further, Baghdwar, source of holy river Bagmati is also located near Shivapuri. The hike goes up through the Rhododendron forest you can enjoy a panoramic view of the langthang region from the top of the peak. The hike returns the same way from the top and we drive back from Nagi Gumba back to Zostel.
Morning : We drive for about 45 minutes to Budhanilkantha Temple which is 8 kms from Kathmandu.
From Budhanilkantha we walk through Shivapuri conservation area, It is a steep uphill hike through narrow and dusty trail for about half an hour to Nagi Gumpa and two hours gradual uphill trail to shivapuri.
After lunch and strolling around for sometimes, we take a short cut downhill trail to Budhanilkantha for about and half hours and drive back to Kathmandu.
