If you’re looking for some breathtaking trail riding, you simply can’t afford to miss this one. The Scar Road is considered the best biking route in the valley and follows the old forestry trail through the Western part of the Shivapuri National park. The Helipad, on the Eastern part of the National Park, is the most popular training trail for the country’s professional MTB riders who frequently use it to polish up their technical skills. The trail starts from Kakani, a picturesque hilltop town that offers beautiful mountain views, and ends at Budhanilkanatha, a popular pilgrimage site on the outskirts of Kathmandu city.
We start from Zostel at 7 am and start cycling from Kathmandu (1,350 m) to Balaju, then we will bike for about 23 kilometers along Trishuli Bazaar road to reach Kakani (2,073 m).
Kakani is a famous picnic spot among Nepalis, We will stop at Kakani for sight-seeing the beautiful mountain ranges which include Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Then we will start biking and pass through Shivapuri National Park, home to 129 species of mushrooms, 2,122 floral species and 318 species of birds.
After riding through Shivapuri Park, we will be heading towards the famous Hindu temple – Budhanilkantha, where you can see a huge sleeping statue of Lord Vishnu in a pond.
After this temple visit, we will cycle back to Zostel
