Namobuddha- Panahuti hiking is one of the best hiking trails in Nepal that takes you to the very beautiful Buddhist Stupa of Namobuddha. Situated on a hillock above Panauti, Namobuddha is a legendary place that is related to the pre incarnation of Lord Buddha. Our hike to Namobuddha starts from the Dhulikhel and takes you all the way through beautiful scenery of emerald hills, pine forest, and rural villages and of course the superb Mountain View up to Namobuddha (1982m.) In Namobuddha you can visit a sacred Buddhist Stupa rich in thanka art and sculptures. From Namobuddha, as you hike down the lowland of Panauti- an old Newari settlement, 32 kms southeast of Kathmandu. The village also possesses one of the, only two known pre-17th century structure of Mahadev temple. You will see beautiful terraces filled with golden rice plant dancing in the wind and experience the typical culture of indigenous Newari people.
We drive 35 kms east of Kathmandu for about one and half hours to a place called Dhapasi via an ancient Newar town Panauti with packed lunch Box.
From Dhapasi we follow the uphill trail towards north-east direction where the trail narrows.
We then pass a suspension bridge, passing various small villages with huge rice fields which gives you a chance to experience the plantation and harvesting of the crops.
We then hike steep uphill for about an hour to reach Namobuddha.
After exploring Namobuddha, we have lunch and then go towards Dhulikhel .
