Take on a long drive to the desert on the outskirts of Jaisalmer, as you pass colourful Rajasthani villages, abandoned houses, the shimmering sand dunes, and then finally—the glorious golden desert. Zostel’s take on the Desert Safari of Jaisalmer is full of good views, an enchanting sunset, and of course, exploring the spots that tourists don’t reach. In this unique escape, you’ll be sleeping under the stars in a quiet part of the dunes, far away from the crowds.

What you will do.
  • After lunchtime, gather up in the common area and hop in the car. The desert is a 40km drive. Once you’re on the outline of the desert, you’ll be switching to either a jeep ride or a camel ride to reach the dunes.
  • The first place you’ll be going to is the sunset point, and as you can imagine, the view from there is splendid. Enjoy the landscape and head to the Zostel base, where you’ll be welcomed with chai and snacks.
  • Carry on with jamming, dance, and a cosy bonfire, followed by a traditional dinner.
  • End your night on a dreamy note—you’ll be sleeping on traditional cot beds spread out in the sands, your heads looking up at the stars. We recommend that you go to sleep early and wake up at 4 am for stargazing and then again at 5.30 for dawn and a gorgeous sunrise.
  • And when the rest of the folks are up, munch on a filling breakfast. Enjoy the last of the desert before you head back to the golden city of Jaisalmer.

  • Your commute to the desert and back from Zostel Jaisalmer.
  • Drinking water and all meals: tea/coffee and snacks in the evening dinner at night and breakfast the next day.
  • A Camel Safari.
  • It’s an experience to sleep directly under the stars. You’ll do so by spreading out your mattresses, linens, and pillows on the sand, all of which will be provided.
  • You’ll be facilitated with an open toilet along with basic sanitation locally available like wet wipes and soap bars.

  • The advance collected for the Escape is completely non-refundable in nature.
  • The trip starts and ends at Zostel Jaisalmer.
  • Things to carry: Wear loose cotton clothes for a comfortable time and do carry a jacket and/or warm clothes for the night. Having a pair of sunglasses, a towel, toilet paper, and a pair of shoes will be of help too. Please carry a valid ID for verification.
