Take your car, gang, and aspirations to explore some of the most mesmerizing parts of Himachal Pradesh on this unconventional and hardcore motor adventure! LA Himalaya presents a week-long self-drive through Himalayan milestones like Rohtang Pass, Jispa, and Sach Pass, with daring camping and offbeat adventures. You will be driving through some of the most offbeat towns, off roading to explore scenic routes, camping by pitching tents in favourable locations, and indulging in leisure through bonfires, stargazing, sightseeing, and more while maintaining social distancing. And since arranging food, comforting accommodation, and more can be a challenge on the route, you will have a special team accompanying you for your meals, camps, and back-ups. So, brace to get a taste of an extreme adventure as you whoosh your car through the mountains, backed with strong support of an experienced team. If you mentally reside in the mountains and are up for a rugged and challenging expedition, this is one trip you shouldn’t miss!
The 7-day adventure starts with exploring Manali. Apart from being the epitome of tourist hubs in Himachal, the town is known for its outspoken landscape and a never-ending scope for adventure activities. Spend your day exploring the nature trails and hippie cafes. In the evening, a hearty dinner with sweet music awaits you before bed.
After a warm breakfast, you will make way for Himachal’s epic lake of Chandra Taal. A short bumpy ride (that will take you through eccentric meadows, playful streams, and the beautiful Rohtang Pass) later, you will arrive at the campsite, generously arranged by Camp Tethys.
You will start the day by exploring the beauty of Chandra Taal, nestled against a remarkable landscape of snowy Himalayas. You will then continue your journey by leaving for the colourful Lahaul valley to Patseo/Jispa. This village is known for its woolen clothes and hilly festivals aside from its enchanting landscape. Upon reaching there, another camp-in night stay awaits you!
Day 4 of your unique trip brings to you an offroading experience leading to Shinku La, an offbeat high pass of the valley. Instead of opting for the Manali-Leh highway, you will take a detour trail that will make you explore this high mountain pass. As you reach the campsite for the night, the gift of chilly winds and mountain landscapes is only mandatory. Enjoy the starry night as you reside to the comfort of your camp-bed after a warm bonfire session.
Off-roading continues as you make way to your next destination that is Udaipur/Pangi. A hearty campsite exploration and a scrumptious breakfast later, you will start your drive towards Pangi. The landscape towards here comprises muddy roads, barren lands, and playful streams, making it worth your while as you camp here.
As we have almost reached the end of this adventurous trip, we take you to its highlight, the Sach Pass. We are talking about one of the most difficult passes to cross in North India, standing tall at an altitude of 4500 m. It runs over the Pir Panjal Mountain ranges and connects Dalhousie with Chamba and Pangi Valley. Notoriously famous among travellers for its adventure activities, Sach Pass blesses you with a spectacular view of snow-clad mountains. As you explore this wondrous pass, you will also camp here for the night.
After the morning ritual of a warm breakfast, you will begin to descend downwards to Dalhousie, which needs no formal introduction. The mesmerising natural landscape, pine-clad valleys, flower bedecked meadows, fast flowing rivers, misty mountains, and old British architecture of this town all add to its charm. Stay the night in Dalhousie.
Departure day arrives. After over a week of adventure and exploration, it’s time to head back home as we bid adieu to yet another successful trip. Collect as many memories as you can as you make plans for future trips with your new travel buddies for life!
This expedition takes you on some of the remotest routes that lead to offbeat places. It is recommended that you travel by a 4x4 or an equivalent car and that you have adequate experience and confidence for driving in the mountains. And since the journey will be slightly difficult than the average road trip, we recommend it only to brave travellers who would be willing to adjust to the challenges and bear with extremely chilly weather and other unforeseen discomforts. Furthermore, the itinerary is tentative since the routes may alter depending upon the road conditions, the time taken in driving, the weather, and exotic locations found while pitching the camp. Travellers are requested to keep their spirits sporty as they indulge in this adventure which can be whimsical at times.
