Village of Billing lies in midst of mountains and is located at the higher altitudes of Dhauladhar mountain ranges up from the Bir village. Billing has always been very popular for adventure tourism. It offers a panoramic view to tourists that comes from the collective scenic beauty of the meadows, Kangra Valley, and ranges in Dhauladhaar altogether Nestled in the upper Kangra Valley, Gunehar is a small Himalayan village that's making its presence felt on the map of Himachal. You will find little brick houses, box-like shops, and cattle wandering around the village.
Once your trip booking is confirmed, you’ll receive pickup details on Saturday evening
Our cabs will be picking you up from your respective stays/accommodations, after which our host will meet you at the toll gate to Billing road. After introducing ourselves at the meeting point and handing you a corona safe kit(mask, sanitizer, etc), we kick off the tour with the amazing scenic ride to Billing. We'll start by getting to know one another and going over your expectations for the tour.
After meeting at toll, we head off for Billing and stop at Chachu’s Dhaba. We choose our breakfast from the available options (Bread Omelette/ Aloo Paratha / Maggi (Plain / Veg), Tea (Black/Milk) and Coffee(Black/Milk)). While our breakfast is being prepared by the legendary Chachu, our hosts will walk you through a quick history of Bir-Billing through video and photograph presentation (while having tea/coffee). Chachu will himself tell you some interesting tales from his last 40 years at Billing. Then we head off for a small 20min hike to Billing top to understand the overall landscape surrounding Billing. Our hosts will try their best to answer any of your queries pertaining to Bir-Billing and the sport of paragliding, for which this place is primarily famous for. If you are interested, our hosts will take photographs of you from their professional cameras, as this place has an amazing viewpoint! Then we head back to Chachu’s Dhaba to have our breakfast. Post 15min break, we board our cab to a nearby village Gunehar
After our cab drops us in the village , we take an off road trail to a nearby waterfall and take some rest alongside a river. After resting and clicking pictures, we head towards the village centre. First, we stop at a small home, where a woman runs a bamboo handicraft business herself. We will witness how precisely she crafts everything she puts on sale. Secondly, we head to a local handloom weaving factory, we get to see locally made clothing lines! After a small tea break, we head towards a nicely located home, which is our lunch destination. We see how a local traditional Kangri dhaam is made (dhaam is a local term for spread of food). Then we feast on this gorgeous dhaam, served by the home chefs. After finishing our lunch, we take some rest and walk towards our cab pickup point(which is a 10min walk).
Here, everyone will receive a memory bag full of souvenirs from this village. It contains a nicely made cotton bag, which contains a woolen scarf(made by the same handloom weavers), a small bamboo product (made by the same women) and a set of postcards customized by your own hosts. You can fill the postcards and give it to hosts (they will ship it via the same village post office).
After this, your cabs will pick you up at the guneher chowk and drop you at your destination/your preferred location in Bir.
Over the next 48 hours, your hosts process all photographs from your trip and send you a cloud drive link. You can download the same and share it over various social media platforms!
